I bought this saw after getting frustrated with a cheap $6 miter box. Everything was perfectly calibrated out of the box! I was able to quickly and accurately cut through 2x4s as well as delicate trim (though I would recommend a better blade than was shipped). The laser is not too accurate, though it gives you a rough idea of where the cut will be made. Everything seems to be real solid with this saw.

Use primarily for cutting trim and small stock. Blade that came with saw was too coarse and I replaced it for finer cuts.

Comments about Ridgid Ridgid Factory-Reconditioned 15 Amp, 10" Compound Miter Saw With Adjustable Laser:
This is a great accurate saw. Although it's not a slider, its very rigid and thus can make very accurate cuts. I'd been testing saws for some time to insure that I got one that had little side to side deflection since I think that's the sign of a good saw. The cheap ones are really flimsy, and sliders tend to flex too. But this baby holds a cut making tight miters. So if you can live with cutting 4x4 or 2x6 you'll like this saw. For that purpose it rates 5 stars. (I gave it 4 since a 2-3x cost slider could rate 5 stars)I also like a 10" blade since this matches my table saw blade. Cons are: not slider, only tilts one way, dust catcher doesn't get it all. Pros: Solid rigid saw, excellent quick clamping, solid fence (needed a little filing on back to make upper extension square), nice transport handle, good angle markings, solid design. Laser works better than most - shifts a little to left during plunge but still very useful)
